Easter Egg Pizza

Easter Egg Pizza

Eating pizza for Easter? Yes! By baking the pizza in the shape of an Easter egg and decorating it accordingly, your original Easter snack or dinner is a hit. Or go all out and make the pizza in the shape of an Easter bunny.

Ingredients for an Easter Egg Pizza:

You can choose whatever ingredients you like to decorate the pizza as an Easter egg. The crazier, the better! We used the following ingredients.

  • 1 dough ball, about 7 ounces (see 'Basic Pizza Dough Recipe')
  • 2.5 ounces of pizza sauce
  • 3.5 ounces of shredded pizza cheese
  • 1 red bell pepper, cut into thin strips
  • 1 yellow bell pepper, cut into thin strips
  • A handful of black olives, sliced
  • A handful of mushrooms, cut into thin strips
  • Extra virgin olive oil (to taste)

Perfect recipe for:

BOSKA Pizza Stone

Instructions:

  1. Place the pizza stone on the rack in the middle of the oven. Preheat the oven with both top and bottom heat to the maximum temperature (430-480°F).
  2. Dust your work surface with some (corn) flour. Place the dough ball on it and start to stretch it out. Pinch and shape the dough until an egg-shaped pizza base forms. This may require some creativity and patience, but it’s a fun way to add a festive twist to your pizza.
  3. Spoon the sauce in the center of the pizza base and spread the sauce outwards in circular motions, leaving about 0.4 inches of the edge sauce-free.
  4. Spread the shredded pizza cheese over the sauce. Arrange the bell pepper strips and olive slices on the pizza. You can use the peppers and olives to create a pattern resembling Easter egg decorations, such as stripes, dots, or other shapes.
  5. Carefully slide the pizza onto a pizza peel and place it on the hot pizza stone in the oven. Bake the pizza for about 6 - 8 minutes. Since every oven is different, keep an eye on the pizza during baking. Baking time may vary.
  6. Remove the pizza from the oven. Drizzle some olive oil over the pizza for added flavor.
  7. Serve the Easter egg pizza on a wooden serving board for a festive and tasty presentation.

Prefer an Easter Bunny Pizza? Divide the dough ball into 3 parts: 2 small and 1 large. You can shape these into a head with two ears. If you have a rectangular pizza stone, you can make the Easter Bunny Pizza larger by using 1.5 times the amount of ingredients.
